At Redemption Church, our liturgy is simply a pattern of worship that helps us respond to the gospel by remaining faithfully present to God, ourselves, and one another. Every element of our gathering is intended to help us hear God’s voice, receive His grace, and be formed into the image of Christ for the sake of the world. The word “liturgy” simply means “the work of the people.” Rather than being spectators, we believe every person gathered is invited to participate in worship together.

A collect is a short prayer prayed on behalf of the congregation. It gathers our hearts around the theme of the day and asks God to help us receive His Word with faith and obedience.

Each week we hear four readings from Scripture—typically from the Old Testament, Psalms, Epistles, and Gospels. We stand during the readings as a way of honoring God’s Word and expressing our readiness to receive what He has to say. We believe that when the Scriptures are read, God Himself is addressing His people. The sermon is simply a response to what God has already said.

We sing because God is worthy of our praise. Through music, we express our love and gratitude to God while also encouraging one another with the truths of the gospel. Singing forms our hearts, teaches our minds, and helps us delight in the goodness of God together.

Before the sermon, we take time to greet one another, welcome guests, and connect as a church family. During this time, you’ll receive a bulletin that serves as a guide to life at Redemption Church, including upcoming events, opportunities to serve, ways to connect with pastors and others in the congregation, and resources for spiritual growth. You’ll also find our Daily Office, a Bible reading plan printed each week so that, as a church family, we can read the same Scriptures together throughout the week and remain rooted in God’s Word in community.

The sermon is a time of teaching and reflection on God’s Word. Our aim is not merely to gain information, but to encounter Jesus and learn how to faithfully follow Him in everyday life.

Together, we acknowledge our sin, weakness, and need for God’s mercy. Confession reminds us that we do not come to God because we are good enough, but because He is gracious.

After confession, we hear words of assurance from Scripture declaring God’s forgiveness in Christ. Absolution is not wishful thinking or positive encouragement; it is the announcement of the good news that through Jesus, our sins are forgiven and we are welcomed into God’s presence.

Having received peace with God through Christ, we extend that peace to one another. This moment reminds us that reconciliation with God creates reconciliation among His people. Before coming to the Lord’s Table, we intentionally turn toward one another in love, forgiveness, and unity.

Jesus taught His disciples to pray, “Our Father…” and we continue to pray these words together today. This prayer shapes our desires, teaches us to depend upon God, and reminds us that we belong to a larger family of faith.

Together we proclaim the central truths of the gospel: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. This ancient declaration roots us in the story of God’s saving work and reminds us of the hope we share.

At the Lord’s Table, we receive bread and wine as tangible reminders of Christ’s body and blood given for us. Communion nourishes our faith, strengthens our unity, and reminds us that Jesus is truly present with His people. All baptized Christians who trust in Christ are welcome at His table.

Before leaving, we pray together and ask God to empower us for faithful living. Worship does not end when the service ends—it continues as we go into our homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, and city as witnesses to the love of Christ.

A benediction is a blessing spoken over God’s people as they are sent out into the world. We leave each week reminded that God’s grace, peace, and presence go with us wherever we go. Having gathered in His presence, we are now sent out in His name.
